From the sessions

Photograph dates are read from the supplied originals. AI artwork is labelled separately from the classroom record.
What faculty made
A shared starting point
Faculty recorded their expectations and current practice in the opening form.
Inside the room
The programme opened online with identity, faculty expectations and the human purpose of the classroom. The second half introduced Ollama and installing local language models: bringing an AI model onto a laptop rather than relying only on a hosted conversational interface.
- What academic work would we like help with?
- What should remain a human responsibility?
- If AI explains a subject well, why come to the classroom?
- Introduced Ollama installation and choosing a local model suited to the laptop’s resources.

AI was already part of the day
Reported using AI daily or several times a day in academic work. Frequency does not tell us how well it is used.
Try next: Begin with a real task, then improve its evidence and judgement checks.

Make the learning usable
Selected practical tools they could use immediately among what they wanted to leave with.
Try next: Leave each session with one reusable task, skill or working output.

Saved time has a life beyond work
Selected family / relationships when asked where they would reinvest five hours returned each week.
Try next: Ask what time saved makes possible, alongside measuring the saving.
